2024 Architecture Summer Academy

KENNESAW STATE UNIVERSITY 
COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT 
SUMMER ACADEMY 
FOR ASPIRNG ARCHITECTS RISING INTO 9-12 GRADES 
JUNE 17 - 28, 2024 
Hosted by Kennesaw State University’s College of Architecture and Construction Management located in Marietta, the two-week career exploratory day camp will help high school students of all levels learn about architecture and what it means to study architecture and design in college. Students will learn about the profession and be introduced to the process of design though an architectural project. Academy participants will engage with the built environment in new, exciting, and fun ways while learning the skills needed to succeed in college. 
 
What to expect: 
  • 10 Days of Hands-on experience in architecture and design 
  • Lessons in sketching, drawing, and documentation 
  • Field trips to Atlanta to engage with local architecture 
  • Materials for modeling and drawing provided with tuition 
  • Awards banquet 
  • Instruction from KSU professors and local Atlanta architects  
 
The Summer Academy will be 10 days from 9am – 5pm each day. We will have an afternoon awards banquet on the last day, Friday June 28.  For more information click here.
 

Tentative Schedule: 

Monday June 17 – Summer Academy Begins, 
Tuesday June 18 – Guest lecture from local architects 
Wednesday June 19 – Sketching trip to KSU Main Campus 
Thursday June 20 – Introduction to Architecture project and site 
Friday June 21 – Guest Lecture from local landscape architects 
 
Monday June 24 – Field Trip to Atlanta to visit projects 
Tuesday June 25 – Sketching and discussing trip 
Wednesday June 26 – Finalize concepts and drawings 
Thursday June 27 – Guest lecture from local interior designers 
Friday June 28 – Architecture Jury and Awards Banquet for parents, friends, and guardians
